Letter M

Hello, for the letter M this week

we did Marbolized Mm

the idea was taken from

who does an awesome job with giving you

details and the science of the marbolizing in her blog :)

We started by using this M worksheet

Or here is another option :)

We used one cup for each color and put in each cup

1 tbsp of cooking oil
1 tsp of food coloring
mixed really good with a fork

Then have a cookie sheet ready

with a little water, enough to cover the bottom only

I have a really old one for all my crafty things

so I covered it with aluminum foil

to see how the colors swirl

You can use a dropper or just a little spoon

like we did here

and carefully place a little bit of color

one at the time

at the beginning they will look like drops only

but here is the fun for the little ones

show your child how to draw

swirls, curls, doodles

in the water with a fork

mixing the paint into the water

for different patterns

here is one of the patterns that we did

mostly pink since that's my daughter's favorite color
You can see the finished project
at the beginning of this post
using the letter Mm worksheet
Enjoy!

I have some awesome news!
Progressive Phonics is free again!!!
isn't this amazing! :)
I am so happy! my daughter will be able to use such a wonderful reading program.
Here is their new site to see what I am talking about :)
I hope you enjoy it just like us :)

Fun and Learning

Going back to our normal activities
here are some of the things we have been doing
this idea was taken from
a handmade word family game
I didn't do as much as Kari, we are starting slow
only with the at family for now

Jessica loved this game,
she was fascinated to see that all our efforts
in learning the letter sounds are paying off
she is so happy she is learning to read

We also got inspire an started playing with the
magnetic letter on the fridge

Jessica also does a lot of dramatic play
this time she was playing mommy
taking pictures of her toys

and pretend grocery shopping :)

Have to love them! :)

Phonics Cut and Paste off blog sorry

I am sorry I had to take down my Phonics cut and paste share

I received a warning in my inbox:

Clemencia –

I saw your recent post on the phonics worksheets and really feel that I should let you know something, in case you are unaware of it. Scanning documents that you downloaded from other sites or that you found in a workbook goes against copyright laws. If you mention the worksheet and link to the book you found them in or the site you found them on that’s fine, but scanning and uploading to share with others is not. It essentially boils down to ~ file sharing is illegal and there can be serious consequences if a publisher were to pursue legal action on you for sharing them without permission. A lot of the companies that produce the worksheets are small family-owned companies that are doing their best to survive, and depend on sales of their workbooks for that survival. When books/worksheets are shared by others uploading like that, the authors lose out and companies end up shutting down. Just wanted to let you know if you are not aware of copyright issues

Sorry if I harmed anybody, not my intention, just wanted to help

Father's day activities

Look at this work of art! :)

We were lucky enough to find this clear coffee mug
at Bed bath & beyond, boy! we couldn't resist
is perfect for father's day, and for painting

So Jessica got a little color class,
we took acrylic paints, only bought the basic colors
red = rojo
blue = azul
white = blanco
yellow = amarillo
and we did some color mixing
red + white = pink (rosado)
blue + red = purple (morado)
blue + yellow = green (verde)
red + yellow = orange (anaranjado)
and at the top you have the final proyect :)

We also have a father's day poem
from Childcareland

and a father's day card
from childcareland also

I saw this very cute father's day card
on another blog, sorry I don't remember where
so if this is yours please let me know
to give you credit. I love it

and here are the tools for it :)

here are other ways to do a cute
father's day card with this tool box

and some other tools to go with it

and more tools :)

The Grouchy Ladybug

this is the book we are starting with

we chose this book since we were finishing

with the letter L, I though it goes great with it

specially this time of the year, when we are finding

quite a few ladybugs in the garden.

As we are reading this book

we decided to make this craft

that I found in my files

this ladybugs made out of paper plates

have the number hidden underneath the wings

which match to the number of dots (stars)

that the ladybug has

great way to practice numbers!

Then comes some puzzles that I found in the net

and here you'll find the second puzzle

I also have some sizing ladybugs in my files

children can put these 6 ladybugs

from smallest to biggest

or biggest to smallest to practice sizing

and also some ladybugs counters

my daughter loves to put these ones

inside an empty plastic jar

challenging herself to count to 30

I also have a ladybug rebus poster
that for some reason the picture is not coming out
the right way in blogger, but is a really cute poster
to help them read :)
Enjoy!
