The Mitten

We have started reading
"The Mitten"
this activity was very simple,
first we colored the characters from the book, here
then Jessica drew a mitten placing her hand down on the paper
and tracing it, teaching her at the same time the meaning of tracing;
then we started gluing the characters in order, the first one closer to
the mitten and so on.

This teaches them about Sequencing, which means putting events in order.
This is a thinking skill that helps them comprehend the story, it helps them identify the order of the events.
Sequence is closely related to precition, which is a crucial skill for reading comprehension. When we make a prediction, we are anticipating a sequence of events.
