As I mentioned before I took over a toddler classroom, the themes for the whole month of March were already done with the advantage that I can come up with the activities for what was written already.
Here is the lesson plan for the coming week:
Monday: Match the shamrock to its appropriate color
For this it can be as easy as gluing color shamrocks in construction paper matching the colors or
You can go the way I do it which is letting the kids move around... Having them sitting in circle time let them watch you place a paint bottle or different color construction paper on the floor or the table at the same time that you call the name of the color you are placing down, then call a child an give them a colored shamrock or whatever you are using to match colors and let them walk to the paint bottle to match the color and ask them what color do they have. Pretty simple, that's one way to go.
Another way to do this which is a little more fun would be having an obstacle course, place some pillows to jump over, a tunnel to go thru, a foam block to jump from, you get the idea; then explain the children while sitting in a circle what do they have to do, if possible demonstrate how to do it. Then call a child give them the colored shamrock and let them go thru the obstacle course to match it with the paint bottle that is waiting at the table :)
I'll post the rest of the week soon, hopefully tomorrow :)
Thanks for visiting :)

Not just primary colors
We were learning about colors
so we started teaching our kids
about primary colors
red = rojo
blue = azul
yellow = amarillo
that when mixed they make the secondary colors
yellow + red = orange (anaranjado)
blue + red = purple (morado
blue + yellow = green (verde)
this cup that you see on the left
is a color mixer, very well worth to have
because it keeps the colors separated
until we pour it out,
that's when you see the magic
of mixing colors and the new color comes out :)
In this lesson they don't just learn
how to mix colors
but also the color comes in a little pill
that melts in the water
(like the ones for egg coloring, on easter time)
so we teach them the meaning of the word "melt"
and also how the pill "disolves" in water.
After the mixing color activity
we put the water colors in little cups
for the kids to learn how to use the dropper
and learn how just a few drops of paint
on a napkins spreads in such an awesome way
to make art
Enjoy!

Fun with colors, shapes, and pattering
We worked with colors today,
we took advantage of some new red and white playdoh
that somebody gave us,
Jessica started mixing the 2 colors together all on her own
to see what color she would come up with,
and to her surprise,
her favorite color...
A is for Art
here it doesn't look like much, but we got a lot done with this print out
this is the same A print out that we used as a playdoh mat before
first she practice some cutting square shapes,
and apple punches (a is apple)
then Jessica glued all the squares in the lowercase a
and she also practice some pattering on the upper case A
she decided to alternate the apple punches with the squares when gluing
