Tales of Peter Rabbit

I've been wanting to make these for a while

they are called books in a bag, story stretchers,

literature activities, etc. However you want to call them,

they are the best way to help your child enjoy books.

So for my first one this season I have chosen

Peter Rabbit, starting with an awesome

lapbook from homeschool share

and a little Peter Rabbit song book found here

and also a cute review of what the book is about

together with a recipe and a list of words to know here

it's just a start, I'll be having more as soon as I have

a little free time :)

Personal life is taking over without any fun lol

Enjoy please! AND if you have any books in mind PLEASE

let me know I'll try my best to find activities related to your

book of request or if I have the time and creativity I'll make

some of my own.

Thanks so much for reading my blog :)

The Grouchy Ladybug

this is the book we are starting with

we chose this book since we were finishing

with the letter L, I though it goes great with it

specially this time of the year, when we are finding

quite a few ladybugs in the garden.

As we are reading this book

we decided to make this craft

that I found in my files

this ladybugs made out of paper plates

have the number hidden underneath the wings

which match to the number of dots (stars)

that the ladybug has

great way to practice numbers!

Then comes some puzzles that I found in the net

and here you'll find the second puzzle

I also have some sizing ladybugs in my files

children can put these 6 ladybugs

from smallest to biggest

or biggest to smallest to practice sizing

and also some ladybugs counters

my daughter loves to put these ones

inside an empty plastic jar

challenging herself to count to 30

I also have a ladybug rebus poster
that for some reason the picture is not coming out
the right way in blogger, but is a really cute poster
to help them read :)
Enjoy!

Dora's Easter Basket book

This is the book we are starting with this week

We follow the activities in the book
like counting Easter eggs in Spanish

And placing treats inside the Easter Eggs
matching the colors with the eggs

Say it in Spanish:

one = uno
two = dos
three = tres
four = cuatro
five = cinco
six = seis
seven = siete
eight = ocho
nine = nueve
ten = diez
eleven = once
twelve = doce

that's how far the book goes in the Spanish counting :)

and the color words in Spanish are here

The Golden Egg Book

Last night we started reading
"the Golden Egg"
and for a craft
we took some glue mixed with a little bit of water
yellow yarn
and a water balloon
We dipped the yarn in the glue
(careful... really messy) lol

and covered the water balloon with the yarn
we used lots of strings to be able to cover
the balloon as much as possible
leaving some empty spaces just for the art of it :)

once done, we let it dry
and our finished result...

after we popped the balloon
we have a golden egg

Thanks to MoreMomTime who I got the idea from here

Celebrating Dr. Seuss!

Today we are going to be celebrating
Dr. Seuss
with a few free printables.

First we are planning on reading
"the Cat in the Hat"

for a craft we'll be using
an oatmeal container to make the hat
cutting and gluing some red and white strips of construction paper,
and for the bottom of the hat,
we'll be using a paper plate with a whole in the middle.
I promise to post a picture as soon as we are done with it :)

We are also going to be doing connect the dots

with the cat in the hat, and a maze

we also have a coloring pagea hats counting sheet

a rhyming worksheet

and a drawing worksheet for your little one to be creative

You can find all these worksheets here

Enjoy!!!

New material for The Mixed up Chamaleon

The Mixed Up Chamaleon Colors
this ones I made myself,
again is for the letter tiles from any scrabble game
or simply laminated so they can trace on top

It helps a lot with letter recognition

Spelling, letter sounds

and at the same time learning colors

You can also find how to say the colors in Spanish here
I'll be making letter tile mats in Spanish asap
I'm sure there will be other themes and books
that will give me the opportunity to incorporate these :)
Enjoy!

Chameleon crayon art

This is pretty neat, and very fun
we took advantage of the chameleons colors to do
the stained glass effect

first we peeled little pieces of crayons

then we placed a chameleons coloring sheet on the table
on top we put wax paper and then
using a pencil sharpener we put crayon shavings
on top of the wax paper, then
place another piece of wax paper on top
and iron it, the crayon will melt quick
and spread mixing the colors

this is a close up of the crayon shavings

when is dry, you cut it.

the chameleon that you see at the bottom
is the coloring sheet that was underneath the wax paper.

The proyect came from Martha Stewart website

The Mixed-Up Chameleon

We finally got The mixed up Chameleon from the library,
we read it a couple of times and Jessica loves it

so we started working on some activities,
I made these cards that you can print, cut and laminate
so whenever I retell the story and say:

I wish I could be big and white like a...
and let the child hold these cards and think
which animal is big and white, so her answer will be the polar bear

then I go on with the story,
I wish I could be handsome like a...
flamigo (being their answer), and so on

Also, another activity is to print them and cut them
separating the word with the picture,
that way you can read the word to them
and they match it with the correct picture,
this will help them learn the name of each animal in this book
and another activity is to print them out
twice or three times and
do a little pattering math with them like this
elephant, elephant, flamingo, elephant, elephant...
what goes next?
so you get the idea... :)
Enjoy!

More Very Hungry Caterpillar goodies

After enjoying our award for the weekend

we continued on the Very Hungry Caterpillar learning fun
Right here Jessica is playing with her sequencing cards
following the story
Besides that I printed a little number words booklet
which I cut, and laminated for her
that way she can practice her number writing over and over again
you can just use a dry-erase marker for it.

So after all this goodies, we started our number review in Spanish
so here is a little lesson for those who need it lol
1 uno
2 dos
3 tres
4 cuatro
5 cinco
6 seis
7 siete
8 ocho
9 nueve
10 dies
11 once
12 doce
13 trece
14 catorce
15 quince
16 diesiseis
17 diesisiete
18 diesiocho
