Fun and Learning

Going back to our normal activities
here are some of the things we have been doing
this idea was taken from
a handmade word family game
I didn't do as much as Kari, we are starting slow
only with the at family for now

Jessica loved this game,
she was fascinated to see that all our efforts
in learning the letter sounds are paying off
she is so happy she is learning to read

We also got inspire an started playing with the
magnetic letter on the fridge

Jessica also does a lot of dramatic play
this time she was playing mommy
taking pictures of her toys

and pretend grocery shopping :)

Have to love them! :)

Phonics Cut and Paste off blog sorry

I am sorry I had to take down my Phonics cut and paste share

I received a warning in my inbox:

Clemencia –

I saw your recent post on the phonics worksheets and really feel that I should let you know something, in case you are unaware of it. Scanning documents that you downloaded from other sites or that you found in a workbook goes against copyright laws. If you mention the worksheet and link to the book you found them in or the site you found them on that’s fine, but scanning and uploading to share with others is not. It essentially boils down to ~ file sharing is illegal and there can be serious consequences if a publisher were to pursue legal action on you for sharing them without permission. A lot of the companies that produce the worksheets are small family-owned companies that are doing their best to survive, and depend on sales of their workbooks for that survival. When books/worksheets are shared by others uploading like that, the authors lose out and companies end up shutting down. Just wanted to let you know if you are not aware of copyright issues

Sorry if I harmed anybody, not my intention, just wanted to help

Letter D

This week we have started with Letter D
teaching Jessica the sound of the letter
uppercase and lowecase D
D for dots (which she drew on the letters)
and D for diamond

After that, she colored this worksheet that we found at
making her aware of all the words with the D sound

But we gave it a little twist, we cut out all the D pictures

and glued them, tellling Jessica, now glue the door on top of the duck

and now the dice on top of the door, etc

putting all of them inside the uppercase D to make a little book.

C for Circle

Our letter C this week is kind of a sensorial C
C for Circle so we decided to punch a lot of 1" circles
to glue on the uppercase and lowercase c's
After that Jessica just got very artistic here lol

Our letter B activities

B for Bubble art
we made bubbles with this recipe:
1/4 cup liquid dishwashing soap
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Mix it all and divided into different bowls or cups,
and add food colouring
Jessica had tons of fun
Blowing colorful bubbles

My B box
This activity we got it from
My "b" book
She went through the house looking for items that start with B
it was an awesome practice for the b sound
she collected a baby, ball, bottle, book, bowl, and a bear

B for bunny
since the bunny is one of her favorite animals that's what she decide to color
of course she didn't follow the instructions for the colors, she just used
whatever colors she desired :)

and at the same time she decided to practice her writing :)
thanks for reading :)

Phonics

Sometimes things fall right in since Jessica already knows the letters sounds I decided to start with some more Phonics, so yesterday morning we went to the library and checked out: Phonics Fundamentals vol 1 and vol 2, and she played a game in the computer at the library (since we are not allowed to check it out :( , "the cat in the hat", for the first time she sits and listen to the whole story while the computer reads it to her, after that she started making the "a" sound and noticing that "a" is in cat and hat, so we went home and copied the "a" worksheet from Phonics Fundamental vol 2, which is the one she liked (sometimes you have to go with what they want to do) right?
So here she is everything that has an "o" in it like "fox" has to be colored yellow,
the same for "a" like bat, fan, has to be colored blue,
and everything with "i" like "pin" has to be colored red.
And there is always playtime, with her kitchen that she got for Christmas
She really loves cooking, and making breakfast for everybody :)
what are your favorite phonic resources?
