ABC Jesus Loves Me

A few days ago I was contacted by
a very awesome and helpful lady,
who has a website ABC Jesus Loves Me,
wanting to put my alphabet ideas in her site,
of course I accepted, and I am honored by her gesture.

I've been blessed by her contacting me,
since I've been wanting to teach Jessica
a Bible Curriculum,
and that's exactly what I am going to start doing.

So besides the Alphabet,
Story based activities,
crafts, printables, etc.
that you see here in my blog,
I'll be adding Bibble activities,
based on the Bible Curriculum
that we'll be following with Jessica
I have placed ABC Jesus Loves Me button
on the side of my blog
to make it easier for everybody
who wants to follow along :)
Teaching kids about God,
can make things just better,
don't you think?

Cooking class

Yesterday, Jessica made lunch for us :)
We made tacos, I made the meat, and put the taco shells in the oven
meanwhile we chopped the tomatoes, lettuce and shredded the cheese
she did most of it with with a lettuce knife that we have which is a white plastic knife, very safe for kids.
It was a great experience, since with such a simple thing, she learned the meaning and the difference of
chopping,
dicing,
shedding,
and filling...
the tacos :)

Enjoy!

Today is Pancake Day!!!

Here is Jessica making her own pancakes
and due to her lactose intolerance, and past egg allegy
we made up a special but delicious recipe for her
and very simple too, we mixed
1/4 cup of Aunt Jemima Original pancake mix
with 1/4 cup soy milk
that's it! and comes out great, very good consistancy and fluffy :)

here we are frying it in a butterfly shape

and here is the final result

she finally can eat eggs, so here they are in her plate :)

Today we are going to be reading

Curious George makes pancakes
and
Pancakes, Pancakes! from Eric Carle

Together with that we have some pancake activities
here is a pancake coloring page
here is a pancake maze
Mrs. Pancake has an cute little pancake book free to print
and here is a pancake song

E for eyedropper painting

We took an eyedropper,
little cups of water
food coloring
with a towell underneath to prevent the mess to spread lol
teaching Jessica how to use the eyedropper
she began to color the letter E

and yes, becareful with the amount of water they put,
Jessica made a hole in her E :)

For the letter E sound, we'll be reading

My "e" book

New material for The Mixed up Chamaleon

The Mixed Up Chamaleon Colors
this ones I made myself,
again is for the letter tiles from any scrabble game
or simply laminated so they can trace on top

It helps a lot with letter recognition

Spelling, letter sounds

and at the same time learning colors

You can also find how to say the colors in Spanish here
I'll be making letter tile mats in Spanish asap
I'm sure there will be other themes and books
that will give me the opportunity to incorporate these :)
Enjoy!

The Mixed-Up Chameleon video

I found this awesome video on the story on youtube

I just though I would share :)
Enjoy!

Chameleon crayon art

This is pretty neat, and very fun
we took advantage of the chameleons colors to do
the stained glass effect

first we peeled little pieces of crayons

then we placed a chameleons coloring sheet on the table
on top we put wax paper and then
using a pencil sharpener we put crayon shavings
on top of the wax paper, then
place another piece of wax paper on top
and iron it, the crayon will melt quick
and spread mixing the colors

this is a close up of the crayon shavings

when is dry, you cut it.

the chameleon that you see at the bottom
is the coloring sheet that was underneath the wax paper.

The proyect came from Martha Stewart website

The Mixed-Up Chameleon

We finally got The mixed up Chameleon from the library,
we read it a couple of times and Jessica loves it

so we started working on some activities,
I made these cards that you can print, cut and laminate
so whenever I retell the story and say:

I wish I could be big and white like a...
and let the child hold these cards and think
which animal is big and white, so her answer will be the polar bear

then I go on with the story,
I wish I could be handsome like a...
flamigo (being their answer), and so on

Also, another activity is to print them and cut them
separating the word with the picture,
that way you can read the word to them
and they match it with the correct picture,
this will help them learn the name of each animal in this book
and another activity is to print them out
twice or three times and
do a little pattering math with them like this
elephant, elephant, flamingo, elephant, elephant...
what goes next?
so you get the idea... :)
Enjoy!

Building sandcastles... online

There is an online game on pbs here

Great for early math perfect for pre-k and k level, here is what an educational newsletter says about it:

Skills: shape recognition

Description: Construct castles without getting sand in your shoes with this nifty shape game for early learners. When sand shapes are revealed, players "drop" them into the outlines of simple sandcastles. A message of congratulations appears as each castle is completed, and two levels of play are provided.

A Valentine Mobile

Today we made this Valentine Mobile

like always recycling...
first we took an empty paper towell roll
and a piece of red construction paper to cover the roll
then we took all those hearts that she colored yesterday
and glued them to a piece of cardboard, putting
cooking string in the middle (to hang)
once they were dry, we colored the other side
and cut them out again
we could also print the worksheet twice,
colored them and glue the hearts together, but
this is the way Jessica wanted to do it.
And since is better to learn while having fun,
why not do it her way :)

A puffy valentines

This is a recycled valentines heart

We took a white paper bag from the cuban breads
and drew a heart on it, then
I showed Jessica how to glue the edges only
leaving a section without glue
to fill it with cotton, then glue the rest again
as you can see we did all that, and then she painted it.

The Butterfly Award for me :)

Wow! thank you so much for the awesome award
given to me by teachingtinytots
and I am passing it on to...

Valentines cards and printable

We started our valentines activities with this
but like always worksheets are not just worksheets for us
Jessica cut all the hearts out after coloring them
then...
we started making valentines cards with them
this is a scrap piece of paper that I taught Jessica
how to fold, to make it spring (fold several times)

to make this pop up card
adding one of the hearts that she cut out from the worksheet

and this is another card that we made
by simply folding a piece of cardboard in half
and adding another heart that Jessica cut out,
but we only glued half of the heart so the other half can pop out also.
